Production Log Week 9

Week 9

This week is our final week to hand in our work, This week we have been carrying on with our editing and we also filmed more shots such as the performance shots to make it a bit better. The problems that we had this week was that we didn't have any performance in the video so we had to film that this week and also one of our group members was absent so it was a bit harder to continue with our work. As this was the deadline to hand in our final version of our music video we will not be doing any work on it so the only thing that we have to do is the evaluation.

Production Log Week 8

Week 8 

This week we have been carrying on with editing our work on Final Cut Express. We have also been re recording some footage because on some of the shots they were to dark and you couldn't see what was happening clearly. Also we have added some of Kesean's work who recently joined our group and there was some shots that he has recorded for his work which we can use on our work. the problems that we had this week was that some of our shots needed to be re recorded and the shots that we had weren't long enough to fill up the time line we needed so we fixed this problem by recording some more footage and re recording some shots. Next week we are going to be carrying on with our edit and we should of finished our final version because our deadline is next week.

Production Log Week 7

Week 7 

This week we have been editing our music video. We had to get a rough two minutes which our teacher would look out and then tell us what was good about it and anything that needed to be improved. Also Kesean joined our group because his partner was kicked out of school. When getting feedback for our two minutes we got told that our work was good but there were some problems such as some of the shots were too dark and we needed to add some performance parts in to it, so this weekend we will be re recording some of the shots and recording some performance parts in to it. This fits in with our production schedule because we said that we would be editing this week and then re recording anything we needed to.

Production Log Week 6

Week 6


This week i have been starting to do my editing using Final Cut Express. We have been taking it in turns during editing so that there isn't one person that does all the work while one person does nothing. Whilst doing the editing the only problem we have had is that some of our footage had gone missing. we will over come this by re recording the shots again and then putting it in to our music video. this fits in with our production schedule because this is the week where we will be doing our editing and that is what we are doing this week our editing. next week we will be re shooting and then editing the shots we had to re shoot.

Production Log Week 5

Week 5

This week i have been recording for my music video and i have been going to various locations such as a park,my house,Moniques house,The streets and romford. This fits in with my production schedule because it says on my production schedule that i will be recording during half term and that is what we managed to do. The job roles was for me to be the camera man and for Jack to be the director and that is what happened.The problems that i had during my recording was that sometimes the weather wasn't suitable to record in so we will have to record on a day where the weather is nice. Our plans for the following week is to look over our footage and then we will start to edit it.

Week 4

This week i have finished doing my shooting script and then had the teacher to check it to make sure that everything was OK, i also finished of my pre production work such as the production schedule,call sheets, risk assessment, call sheets and waver for cast.This fitted in with my production schedule because this was part of our pre production work and we was going to finish it before the half term which we managed to do. We stuck to the job roles because we agreed that we would do certain sections of the pre production and then we done the parts that we said we would.The problems that i had to sort out was that the script had to be tweaked a bit and made a bit more obvious because on certain shots your in the same location but on different days but it wasn't clear that it was on different days so i had to make it obvious.For the following week we will be filming our music video throughout the whole half term and maybe a bit after.

Job Roles And Responsabilitys


Camera Operator And Editor 
I will be the camera operator and editor for our music video production because i have done media since year 11 so i have used cameras a lot and know the different type of shots and know about the rules such as the rule of thirds and i have also edited work that i have done in the past so i know how to use the software and will be able to cut the shots to what they should be and make sure that there is match on action and other things in the music video.


Director And Production Manager
Jack will be the director and production manager because it is his song and his idea which we are doing so he has the clearest idea of what the music video he wants and what he wants it to look like.Also he is more of a leader then i am so he will be able to take more control and get people to do what they need to do more then i would,also if there was a mistake or something went wrong then he would be able to find a solution.

Week 3

This week we have been carrying on with our scripts for our music video and also started the pre production for it such as the job roles and responsibility, the cast waver, production schedule, location reccies, risk assessment, call sheets and permission to film.This fits in to my production schedule because this is all part of my pre production and i am making sure that i am able to finish it all before the deadline or earlier so i can start recording as soon as possible.During this week i did not have any problems with any of my work so i was able to do all my work successfully without having to change anything.

Production Log Week Two

Week Two

This week we carried on writing our script out for our music video and also i was updating my blog and was making any improvements which were needed.This fits in with my production schedule because this is part of my planning section where we have to write a script for what will happen in our music video in the script you have to have what type of shots there are, the angle of the shot, the lyrics, what will happen in it, the lyrics, the actors and the equipment. The only problem that i had was that some of my work was that i needed to have a bit more detail because in some of my work i sometimes towards the end write less then what i do at the start.Also one of my pieces of work was not on the blog so i had to add it on to it. My plans for the following week is to carry on doing my script and then hopefully try to start recording or get close to the recording part of my production schedule.

This is a company which will create a music video for a unknown or up coming artist but their budget is only 99 dollars to spend on the music video.

What is their ethos?
Their ethos is to make sure that the music video is made for 99 dollars or less and to be filmed in 24 hours and filmed in 24 hours.

What types, labels and genres of music appears on their you tube channel?
 The artists are either signed to independent record labels or not signed at all and the genres you mainly see on the page is indie music and rock music.

What is the relationship between 99dollarmusicvideos.com, their film makers and music acts?
The relationship that the artist and the film makers have to have is that they get along well and they both put in the same effort as each other when filming and editing.

how does 99dollarmusicvideo.com encourage audience participation?
 They encourage audience participation by allowing any artist to create  a music video for a small amount which can make the artist become very popular and even get signed to a major record label.

is it possible to make a proffesional music video for $99?
 i don't think it is possible to make a professional music video because you have a very low budget so i don't think you will be able to afford good quality equipment such as cameras and editing programs which means you cant add as many effects as you like or make the video a good quality.

Production Log Week One

Production Log

Week one

This week I had to present my pitch and then afterwards do a Q & A on the pitch where i would find feedback.I then got in to a group where me and Jack would decide whose idea we would choose to do and then we made a rationale video saying whose idea we are choosing to do and why we are working together and the pros and cons which can all be found on my blogger.This fits in with my production schedule which is in my presentation because we were planning our idea and what we would do for our music video.The problems that happened this week was that when i was doing my presentation i had to move my presentation back because i had exams when i was supposed to do it and also when doing my presentation i had to move it from my desktop to my documents because otherwise it wouldn't load.I over came this problem by doing my presentation on another day and moving the file from my desktop to my documents so that it would load.For next week we will be carrying on planning our idea and thinking of what to do in our music video.

Are there any areas you would give more detail on?

In my presentation i would give more detail on the lyrics slide because i just had the lyrics there and i didn't do in to much detail on what the song was about, so i could of explained verse by verse what the lyrics were saying and then from the lyrics what i could do in the music video for example in the narrative or using illustrating.Also i could of gone in to more detail on what the song is about and the story about the song for example instead of just saying its about a relationship i could of said it could be a past couple who broke up and the girl moved on and the ex is jealous so he is trying to find reasons why she should break up with her new boyfriend and maybe go back to the singer.

Strengths of my idea from feedback

from my feedback i found out that the strengths of my music video pitch were that i used good conventions from such as illustrating which is when the lyrics to the song match what what would be happening in the music video for example in my song when it says 'shes walking around in the middle of the night' you could have the girl in the music video walking around in the middle of the night.Another convention i choose to do was narrative this is when the music video has a story and tells a story for example in my song i could have the music video show us a story about the relationship the actors are in. The locations that i used were good as well because they are local which means that they will be easy to access and i should be able to record in all of the locations and also they are relevant to the song and the lyrics.

Areas of improvement for my idea from feedback

From my feedback i learnt that i could improve my idea but having a back up on one of the locations just incase i cant use it which is the school stage and i would over come this problem by either adding a green screen or by using the studio. Another part i could improve on is giving more detail on why i choose the song and what the song means.Another bit i could improve on is what i would use to show the conventions and why i choose the conventions which i could do by giving more detail on that section of the pitch.

Changes to be made

The changes that i will make to my idea are that i will be adding more detail in to certain slides and explain them more such as the lyrics slide where i will explain them more and say more on what the songs story line is.I will add more to the conventions slide by explaining how i would be using them in my music video and in my idea.Also i will need to think about what i will need to do if i cant use the school stage to record the performance part then i will need to think and find another place to use to record the performance part of my music video.

Age-I think that the age for this song would be teenagers or above because that is the age when you see relationships end and then the people try to have more but it isnt the same as it was before and the ex wants to have the girl back but is trying to find reasons why they shouldn't be together.
Gender-I think that the gender for this song is male because the song is sung by a boy who is talking about a girl who has moved on and that is usually what happens to males.
Interest- i think this song appeals to someone who has broken up with someone but the person who they went out with has moved on and they are trying to find ways on why the couple should not be together and how they are pretending to be happy when there not.
Location-The location for this song would be global because it is song with a normal accent so its not made for one country also people from around the world can relate to this song.
Ethnicity-I think that the main ethnicity for this song would be white because these songs are mainly listened to associated with white people also it is sung by a white person.

i think that the song is about a couple that have broken up and the girl has found someone else and the ex is singing about the girls new partner or latest partner because the artist says 'shes wasting all her feelings on a boy she's never met' this connotes that is loving someone who isn't real which connote that she shouldn't be with him because he isn't relevant or doesn't care. He also talks about the boy friend and if he really loves her because he says 'wont you love her the way she loves you' this connotes that he doubts that he loves her like she loves him because he is questioning him. He also says 'would you know her if she didn't know you' which connotes that if it wasnt for her then maybe they wouldn't of went out or anything. I think that the artist is also saying that the girl shouldn't be with him because he says 'says that she is happy but is shy lying' this connotes that she is pretending to be happy when really she isn't and also that shes is acting like shes ok when really she isn't and doesn't know what to do because he says 'shes trying to understand but she cant

The genre of this song is pop this is because it has the same sort of lyrics that you hear in pop songs which is usually about love. Also you hear the same instruments you hear in pop songs such as guitars and drums. Also the mood of the song is up lifting but the lyrics are meant to be quite sad so where it is a up beat song it doesn't make it that sad which also makes it like pop because usually pop songs are up beat as well.This genre of music is quite a popular genre of music now days and there are a lot of people who listen to this sort of song as well.Also the target audience is the main audience that listened to this genre of music so it is more likely that it would be listened to a lot.

The tempo of the song is quite fast which makes it more happier and less depressing then if it was to have a slow tempo which would make the song sad. In certain parts of the song such as 'you see her walking around in the middle of night' i would illustrate that by having a girl walking around late at night in her wedding gown while that part is being sung. Also in the parts of the song where it isn't possible to show what is happening or where it repeats it self i would have shots of the song where it is just the artist lip syncing. I would also amplify parts of the song in parts such as when the artist says 'are you in love' by having a scene where the couple are together but hes acting differently to how she is so it amplifies if the person is really in love.
